Sounds like you have a serious problem. Since the colony has winged females and drones. The colony is michure in size, numering in the 10 of thousands.
I assume they are Camponotus pennsylvanicus species, which are common on the east coast.
All insects, including ants need to live in a humid enviroment to survive. Stopping water from leaking into the walls of your house will make the environment unsutible for the ants to live there. Your parents need to recegize that this is a serious problem.
Here is a resipe using Borax aka 20 Mole Team.
I would reccomend using hunny instead of sugar in the recipe because carpendar ants can smell the hunny and are attracted to it like flies on shit.

Diatomaceous earth
This stuff works, I haven't googled the mechanism but I have never had a them last more then 3-4 days of having that blown into the nest. Sealing the holes with every day stuff does not work, they can eat though anything, hot glue, silicone construction adhesive, they can cut it all O_O

It usually sold as Ant Powder or something similar. Comes in a bottle with a bit of a nozzle on it so you can squirt it where ever you like. The stuff I have is "Crawling Insect Powder" I get it from Canadian tire but there should be an equivalent store where ever you are.

Should cost around $1/lb to $2/lb with shipping on ebay.com or amazon.com . Make sure to look for the fine form insecticide powder as it is cheaper than food grade products used to de-worm animals.
Note the dry calcined form of the powder is still an inhalation hazard, and mask/gloves should be used.
Essentially the material abrades the protective outer shell/joints/Mandibles of insects to make body fluid retention difficult.
