well i was winding my secondary coil with wire from a microwave's fan motor. 3/4ths done with winding my secondary on a 3'' diameter PVC pipe my aspergers and ocd once again got the best of me, thus i refused anything less than perfect. i noticed that there was some kinks and overlaps that i couldnt fix so i got frustrated and popped the wire from the spool, rendering my secondary forever incomplete until i start a new one :/.
(i was also using epoxy [the one you get in the dual syringe] through out winding, i took breaks while doing it cause i have homework and other stuff to do =S)

does the spark gap HAVE to be tungsten ? if it isnt how ill it effect it?
Tungsten is used in f.ex. TIG welders and have a extremely high melting point compared to a steel screw or copper as many use in their spark gaps. Two steel screws will wear down faster than 4 pieces of air cooled copper pipe used as spark gap. Its all about material durability and cooling, experiment with different kinds, they will all work, but some will wear down faster.
Remaking a secondary coil is something we all get to at some point, I had to remake one with 0.1mm wire that broke for me while winding it, but it was only a 75mm diameter pipe with 20 cm winding length. It really sucked when I had to redo my 160mm diameter pipe with 60 cm winding length.
