LOL soldering while plugged into the mains. I think I might have that one topped. A few weeks ago I used a big pair of wire cutters to cut the end of and extension cord so I could use the cord. Only problem was it was still plugged in I got a big flas and some sparks and it took a chunk of metal out of the blades. oops

I have two wellers at work on has a tiny little tip for surface mount the other is a standard tip. I think they are okay and last quite awhile. If you unplug the pencil while its on and then plug it back in it will kill the station. I did this umm, twice once at work and another time at home but the second time had been like 5 years after the first time. hehe
