You should add a shut off timer of about two hours, and put a piece of black plastic near the spark gap (to cover it because it is too bright), so that you could fall asleep to the pretty sparks and the wonderful noise! Your coil produces the most pleasing noise from any Tesla Coil I've heard. I should build one... but I can't even get a spark gap coil to work ROFL. But very nice coil! I like how the sparks appear to "spin" as if it's on a rotary disk.

Nicely built coil! I've been waiting to see the results of your build for some time now, however, your secondary coil/topload seem a little large for an 811A coil. Have you tried any other sizes? I'm getting 7" - 8" out of my 811A coil with a much smaller setup.
Also, if you want to be able to run your coil for longer, use a 572B tube instead of an 811A. It's the same tube (as in it will work in place of the 811A without any modification in the circuit), but with more robust ratings. My plate reddening problem disappeared when I upgraded.

The only wire I had was 0.8mm, so I must build a longer coil to have enough turns (810), which is not so much... I will build another , smaller coil with more windings... someday. That 572B tube is a good idea! Thanks.
