i was just told it was 5Kw so yeh it works out at about 20A but usualy they can be pushed alot ferther (photonic inductions 32A one works up to 80A before it starts complaining XD)

the variac weighs about 40Kg too wound on a huge iron power core or something

But you could compare this to overclocking a computer, the you risk everything.

My Phenom B45 (Athlon 445) x4 is on 4.2Ghz!, stock is 3.1, I need watercooling!!!!

True True,

im thinking of adding a big steppermoter onto it connected to a PIC with a few thermisters and a potential Divider
possible shove the kit under cooled oil for max preformance with a pump and radiator for cooling,

(its 1950s~ so its VERY over engineered :D)

You mean, aside from my wife? smile

At one of the monthly electronics flea markets in 2010,
I got a couple of krytron tubes new in boxes for $0.10 each.

Not much around here, people just throw perfectly good electronics out all the time (but not at the end of their drive ways, people are too conservative for that around here). And the local recycling center is operated by a private company who don't let you take old stuff.

Although I did get a complete commodore 64 computer with accessories and games free from my neighbour once. I am going to try and sell it on ebay, for an inflated price of-course.

I asked my neighbour if he had thought about selling it and his reply was "who would want this old junk".

That is about it.

I wish I could find as much as people do here, most of my old electronics come from my friends and my house...

As Alex said, in my town you are not allowed to take anything form the tip (why are then even called tip's then :(.....), I wanted a few MOT's before so I went to the tip and some guy said you are not allowed to take anything, as the camera will catch you ¬¬, they only look through the cameras if something bad happened.....!
