Connections to a 220 industrial grinder in half completed construction site when I was in my 20's. Threw me across a small room (elbow brushed open connections). I think at my age today it may have stopped my heart. I have a very intense respect for mains. I really didn't even remember the entire thing. I simply saw the burns on my arm and remembered lifting some material out of the way. The shock itself was vicious but I also slammed my head against the concrete. I was young, in very good shape (about 200lbs of muscle) and was into a lot of cardio exercise. At my age today I don't think I would have survived. It seemed every muscle in my body contracted in a manner that's tough to describe. It was difficult to catch my breath. It's almost like I flew backward. I have not forgotten that - and it's been about 30 years: it was THAT memorable.

There was little to nothing I could have done to avoid it as I had NO idea that some jerk had quick wired this thing (& it was live). I was sweaty and that's what I think made it a "Kodak Moment". I DO remember someone laughing as I got up and I lost my temper a bit. But that's young people for you....always compassionate and caring.

120uF flash cap at 330V.

Anything more "potent" I'm always wearing long rubber boots and thick rubber gloves with leather over them.

But it's still technically a shock haha tongue I think the actual worst one I got was when I accidently brushed up against my flyback with 18 volts on the primary, gave me a small burn as well as a nasty shock

8 CCFLs in parallel, was drawing arcs from it and had Mr Momentary Switch on the battery. Didn't help as my screwdriver had a tiny little piece of metal at the end of the handle and my finger on right hand got too close. Left hand on switch, and ZZZZZZAAAAAPPPP !! ****&(&*!!!!

Lets just say that it was bad enough that I didn't drive to town that night, as I couldn't feel my arms apart from a lot of tingling. Could still move them though.

That experiment got taken apart again, and to this day I haven't dared put it back together.

I've copped several shocks in my life, mostly from car ignition systems which are usually pretty painless, the odd 'half a shock' through speedway tape around light switch wires while moving doorways and similar situations.

By far the worst shock I ever recieved was while working in a timber staircase factory resetting a 415 breaker on a '7 head profiling machine'. Only took one access panel off, the top one and the breaker was in the bottom half, found a thin stick of wood and just as I reset it caught something hot with the back of my hand. Threw me several meters into a sheet of 19mm ply. I've never been lazy about making room since. The boss had the panel checked over the day after, never found out what was hot.

While holding a grounded object with my right hand, my right forearm touched the nipple of a 15,000 volt, 60 ma. NST. So I only got 7500 volts worth, but it felt like someone had taken a baseball bat to my arm! Luckily, the current was confined to my right arm. Shaky for a while, but no permanent damage (AFAIK).
