I don't think it's a big deal Chris, Dr. Kilovolt was just saying that he has had silicon in the vicinity of hv, nothing to worry about. As long as 4hv watches their ass when playing with high voltage, i wouldn't worry

I also have never used anything to discharge me of static, but i am always barefoot and my floor is cement. I have also have mosfets somewhat near HV. I can't seem to remember mosfets being damaged by ESD, only by Ohm's law.
