Heard this one in Italy:

Shortest recordable time segment: The time it takes from the traffic light has switched to green till the guy behind you honks his horn!

Everyone knows that all units are equivelent to the CN formula, right?

Those of you who are ex-DECcies might know that for many many years DEC used microfortnights as the units for certain configuration parameters in its operating systems, specifically OpenVMS

1 microfortnight = 1.2096 seconds.

An attoparsec is about 3 cm, so 1 attoparsec per microfortnight is about 1 inch/second.

Years ago (in the early 80s) I was an OS design engineer for Digital Equipment Corp (DEC) working on RSX, RSTS/E, ELN and VMS - sadly, microfortnights were typically implemented internally as approximating to one second...

sweet, i was just thinking about the capacitor joules to random food joules conversion yesterday (i was thinking gummy bears, but cans of coke is fine)
everyone has seen this one right? Link2
as kind of an inside joke, me and the rest of the physics teaching assistants at my school will respond to questions about "what units does.. blah blah" with "convert it into gallons of milk" in a very serious tone.

My favourite is the barnyard atmosphere which is equivalent to about 50 millionths of an electron volt..

For those too thrifty to use the proper size capacitor we have :

C = 1/s C= farad. S= daraf

C= Capacitance S= Elastance

Budgets can be stretched, seems.

Dr. Spark .. thanks, that lightened my morning,
here in UK we no longer use strange units,
in industry everything is measured in Firkin.

For example;
Weight, 2 Firkin heavy
Hardness, 2 Firkinn difficult
Distance, 2 Firkin far
etc
