Do not use a fullwave doubler, just fullwave rectify the MOT and filter with MOT caps. The maximum plate voltage for the tube is 3000 volts.

yes i know that, the vttc will have a built in variac to vary the voltage from 0 to 3000 VDC, or is the voltage coming out of the fullwave rectifigher 3KV or close? BTW the vttc has meturing equitment to messur the anode voltage an current. the maximum voltag of the meter is 3KV and im using a variac to regulat the voltage. but if the output voltage of a fullwvave rectifigher is greater than 2 KV i will use that.

The output of a MOT is ca. 2100 VAC, after rectification this turns out to 2960 volts with no load. Of couse the voltage will drop under load and because MOTs are shunted, it will drop a lot...

so using a full wave dubler would work? an shood i use a audio output transformer in the amp cercuit? btw the amp im using is this one, well sort of: Link2

im going to use a 1 nF 6KV cap as a cupling between the anode of the pentode part of the pcl86 and grid2 on the qb3/300 and im using a 8K resistor infront of the anode of the pentode part of the pcl86.

dose the pcl86 amp have enough power to modulate the qb3/300?

Thanks for the mention, Dr. Spark! If I had more time (or time to do it over) I would use that 4CX1000 instead. Probably would require about 30 to 50 watts of audio drive to the screen. Very simple design. Makes a good flame thrower!
