Physically, you want a large, preferably good-quality bus cap across the DC inputs of the bridge, and snubbers near each half-bridge.
Also, don't worry, you will blow many, many IGBTs wink

so leave that one decoupler there, and add two more identical ones one as close as possible(directly soldered to) the collecter of one igbt and the emitter of the one that is in series with it. basically parallel to the first one, but as close as possible to each bridge section. and yes, i plan on blowing quite a few XD

Nooooooo don't solder directly to the leads of each IGBT; it'll become real painful after you blow a few sets. Make boards/busbars/small cute laminated structures and solder to those.
Steve Conner's "Dirty DRSSTC" has a cute, albeit (imho) somewhat sketchy-looking laminated bus structure bridge built on top of the bus cap: Link2

When i said solder the snubber right on the pin, i just meant get it very very close the the IGBTs terminals. It needs to have very short traces to minimize inductance.

What do you mean by "i know it runs on dc though(i wasn't going to run it on on smoothed dc! or did u think i was going to try to feed it ac"? Who suggested that they thought you where inputting AC? If you meant me, no i did not think that tongue If so, i guess you thought that because i said scope the buss voltage? Scoping the buss voltage is to make sure there is not any ringing of high voltage spikes caused by stray inductances and capacitances resonating, and if there are, less inductance on the bridge or
more snubber capacitance is the way to fix it.

naw, by on the leads i meant close as possible. i know that stray inductance plays hell with a drsstc.

and by the ac comment, i was just joking, you said across the supply, and if you dont have a cap across a rectified ac supply, all you get is dc half-cycles.

the bridge layout i plan to build is a pcb with thick copper, layed out for low inductance, then the high current portions will be either coated with solder, or covered with a copper sheet of an identical shape.
