Yesterday I did a photo project after coming up with the idea the night before.
I will post photos progressively leading to the final photo which is my modern take on a well known one.
Here is the first photo.

Any ideas?

You will make a half-sphere with the tesla coil arcs?

Not a bad guess but the final photo is my modern take on a well known one.

Here is a bit further on from the perspective of the viewing camera.

Here is what I did to give a new take on Tesla's photo holding a wireless light globe.

Step one
Take a flash photo with a B grade substitute actor (me) with a cheap wig cut to style, false mo and hired suit.

Keep the camera shutter open. Everything is dark so nothing is added to the image.
Run away.

... which leaves the globe I was holding suspended in place. This is the important link between the two scenes. Shutter is still open and everything is dark.

Then add a few seconds of Tesla coil sparks. These provide their own light to be recorded on the image.

Then close the shutter (total exposure 13 seconds) to reveal the composite image.
Does it look like Tesla? Not really. Just like getting dressed up I guess.

Tesla had an impecable fashion sense, it would be hard to find a suit with the same cut and fit.
Your missing the elbow on the chair too.
Good job!

I was working from a photo like this early on and only found the the chair elbow when looking for the highest res shot.

This is only a quickie project though but I wanted something for an upcoming Tesla coil display when the Belgrade Tesla Museum visits Perth Australia next month.
