So after martyring myself on the cross of tintop ownership for the last 3 years, I decided that it was time to stop drooling on the inside of my car window every time a bike rode past, and actually do something about it.
So, after a few weeks of trawling the bike dealers, autotrader etc, looking at '00 R1's, ZX7R's, and other assorted low rent machines, I finally went and did what every good Pizzey should.
Actually bought what I wanted.
I must say, I have never in my life ridden or driven such an amazing machine. Everything on it is perfect, pinpoint accuracy, and much faster than is required. And anyone who tells me I am going to die, or be carefull, or they knew so and so that lost both testicles in a bike crash, can just stay quiet, I've had enough of that this weekend.
If a member of parliament rode one, it would be banned before the sun came up the next day.
but it is also the easiest bike I have ever ridden.
I am rather pleased with myself at the moment.
Anyone else here ride?

Anybody else have problems getting the thumbnails to link to the fullsized pictures?

EDIT: Fixed b0rken links.

You linked to the thumbnails instead of to the main pictures so you need to copy and paste the correct URLs.

Concratulations on your fine purchase! Oh what a lovely machine the R1 is, I have a CBR 600 myself. I used to get a lot of safety talks when I first started riding but now it's me telling them how great it is to fly past traffic jams cheesey There's nothing like finding an empty piece of road and opening the throttle, the acceleration is just awsome, and that's on my 600!
Enjoy!

I have a Yamaha TW200. It's basically a large street legal dirt bike. :)

Once I get my license (should happen in the coming months) I'll get my motorcycle permit so I can take it out on the road.

Nice!

I have a honda CG125, it was good fun back in the days. I took my CBT (compulsory basic training) to get me on the road with it, but that expires after 2 years if you don't take your bike test. That's how it works in the UK. My bike broke down (damaged engine) so my CBT expired and I never took my test. Later this summer though I hope to take my CBT again, followed by my bike test, which will enable me to basically ride anything - including my Dad's Yamaha Fazer (400cc version).

Anyway bikes are much safer than cars I think tongue You have nothing shielding you from the experience of speed, and you have more of a feel for what the thing can do. Cars only 'feel' safe at speed, until something happens.

That's pretty nasty looking (in a good way). I wonder what it's like to ride. The rear tire is rather unround, the wheelbase is long, and it's a friggin' monster. Interesting.

... and thats how I lost my arms cheesey. My dad says when he was going on the highway on his cruiser he really had to hold on as it felt like his arms were being pulled on. I used to ride an old Kawasaki 175cc around my yard but that got boring cause theres nowhere to go. i then rode it around my cauldasac(spelling?) but the cops came and sent me home. frown I geuss the main problem would be is when its raining and motorcycles the only way to get home.
