Mice can be such an issue. I've had it where they get stuck in a 5 gallon bucket that had dog food in it, they'd try to get out without luck. Since there were 5(Yeah I don't know why) of them, I stuck a firecracker into the buck and shut the lid...
Since it's not a rat it won't eat it's way out of sticky traps, so perhaps use a few of them and with some luck catch it.

Well I`ve made an elaborate mouse trap har har... No high voltages though, just an upside down container with a bit of thread holding it up and a trigger attatched to a platform with some food. This is fun actually :o)

I had to deal with a mouse infestation in a previous job - it was a beautiful old building overlooking the Thames in London's West End (the theatre district). The mice had got into the basement and bred under the false floors, using the false floors, electrical ducts & risers to move around the building.
It took weeks to get rid of them.
On a personal front, I find the use of "sticky traps" abhorrent - they are cruel in the extreme - I've seen mice rip their own legs off in an effort to escape. Nasty, nasty, things...
If its a domestic situation, I would urge you to get a humane/non-lethal trap (I find the "rocking" ones best - we use this one ) - we have used them ourselves to great effect in our storeroom and elsewhere. The mouse is unharmed (its just trying to make its way in the world, just like you) and you get to release the mouse in a local park or somesuch and feel much better about yourself.
What goes round, comes round. Mice aren't all that bad and, like all animals, should be treated with a bit of respect.

It`s more fun to make traps myself but not deadly ones I agree. Funnily enough I have a pet mouse already but I imagine wild ones carry more disease, maybe it`s him attracting them in.

5 gallon bucket with paint stirer mounted across the top, mounted so it can rotate freely, peanut butter on the center of the stirer, and a ramp to get up top of the bucket. Any mouse that gets on the stirer, shifts the balance and falls in to the bucket is stuck. Empty a the bucket when needed, perferably a good distance from your dwelling. Add/remove water/high voltage/salt water with menacing outlines swimming around in it,/SF6 to the bottom of the bucket to suit personal ethics as needed.

Bonus, do a bit of science and tag the mice with a non toxic UV fluorescing highlighter dye in the water to see if the same mice are returning each time.

I like the idea. How about fluorescent dust / powder on the floor to trace the main routes by which they enter and leave the building, then fix the gaps?
