I'm fairly sure that because water absorbs the radiation from a µwave oven so strongly there wouldn't be much resonance, so the size of the head wouldn't matter much. In effect, none would reach the back of the head- the penetration depth s only a few cm. After that (and that basically means behind your eyes) the tissue in front has acted as a (sacrificial) shield.
I think I'm getting to the bottom of this, and some of the points I raised above.
While the wavelength in air of 2.45 GHz radiation is 12.5 cm, in distilled water it is 1.4 cm. (If you require more info google dielectric dipoles)
This phenomenon presumably explains why the human body resonates at around 53 MHz, and the other points raised about resonance of the head, eyeballs and lenses in the eye.
This link explains some of it:
It would appear that resonance, like the speed of light(or the dielectric velocity of coaxial cable- I'm sure some here know what I'm alluding to) is dependant on the 'medium', which does seem to make a lot of sense.
Hope this makes some sense. It helps to explain what the authors of the papers mentioned above were researching.

I thought that South Park cleared this up for us. Putting your balls in the microwave causes them to grow to the size of a wheelbarrow. We all know we can trust the most foul swearing show in cable tv, right?

I figure that door seal could be so easily misaligned, that it's just not worth taking the risk of staring at your food behind the door day after day. After all, my eyes are my third favourite organ, do I really want to use them as a sacrificial microwave leakage indicator? I also insist, much to my daughter's hurumph, that she unplugs, not just switches off, the hand-held blender when changing the blades. The chances of losing body parts is pretty small, but why bother with the risk at all?
exactly why I wear safety goggles when using fast rotating metal objects or things that might blow up. I like my eyes. Also, I have somewhat of a paranoia, or eccentricity, about things in my face. I DON'T like things in my face.
