Cant tell if that last comment about the phones is trolling or not, but that myth is most definitely fake, in all the videos iv seen they just have a magnetron under the table (very risky).

As for microwaves, they are harmless when used properly. After all, all the microwaves do is heat water molecules, so all they can do is heat maybes a few mm into your skin, no more than standing in the sun will do (and with 0 sunburn). Even when open they are "quite" safe at a distance, as humans are pretty good at equalising body temperatures. The only place where this doesnt apply is the eye, so when exposed to an unshielded magnetron they can heat up, which I think causes cataracts after a while.

On a fun side note, put about 20 cellphones around a piece of popcorn and call them all at the same time. It pops. I've seen it.
This has to be crap! No way is this real.

Im surprised no one mentioned it, but isn't the door a faraday mesh to prevent radiation from leaking (the black grid on all the doors)? If there was a tiny leak, It couldn't do much damage as it takes quite a bit to heat up water significantly.

I was going to in my previous post, but my dog demanded to be fed. The holes are much smaller then the wavelength being emitted, thus then metal screen acts as if it were a solid sheet.

Yes, it is crap. It's one of these urban legend things. I can't remember if Mythbusters debunked it, but they should have.

The radio transmitter in a cellphone is maybe 2 watts at most. And in the European GSM system at least, all the phones in a cell take it in turns to transmit, only one transmitter at a time is operating. It all adds up to a modest level of power that the average ham radio shack can easily outgun.

Fun experiment: Test the RF shielding in a microwave oven by putting your cellphone inside and closing the door. Does it still get a signal? Does this worry you? How good does the oven's Faraday cage actually need to be? (The exposure limit for microwaves is 10mW per square centimetre: the flux in the oven is more like 10W per square centimetre.)

Idiot warning: Don't turn the oven on.

Yea, that's a bad idea

And alright, so I didn't see it personally, but I heard it from a cousin, who heard it from a friend who... wink

What about labels for morons, cowards and dumb people? Not just idiots. What about the illiterate peeps too? 942 warning labels isnt enough for a water bottle or a spoon, we need more labels.

But I digress, heres the results:
First, very near but still outside the MO, 3 of 4 bars on EV and TX.
Next, inside the MO, EV = 1 bar, TX = 0 bars.

one cant expect data and power waves to be exactly the same, but as Steve McConnor suggested bars have gone down. Signal attenuation from inside to outside is very high, despite the frequencies not being entirely the same.

Warning: do not light your body on fire.
Warning: do not put your tongue into a light socket.
Warning: do not stab yourself with a dinner fork.
Warning: do not drink battery acid.
Warning: Idiot with double ended burning laser.
