We don't mind helping out with a few small things but an entire design is sort of out there. How much are you looking to pay the person who designs it? I could *probably* try to help out, as I need money, but I sort of need to know what to expect payment wise. I'm 17 and need the money for other various projects I have.

i guess i don't know how to take what it is that you are saying to me Finn. am i being insulted here? you've no knowledge whatsoever of how much money i am willing to spend and i don't believe i've even remotely hinted at wanting something for free from anyone. if anything the thread topic states that i am looking to PAY and artist for his time.
To be insulted, or not, is all in your own choice, but I certainly did not mean to insult you. Only, since you took the liberty of opening the debate with a LOL over the way I state my price policy, I thought it opportunate to point out that it has seemed to serve me well. And, to take it as an indication that you are out for the, not free, but certainly the cheap solution. Cheers, Finn Hammer

There is also the possibility of potential liability from any ensuing lawsiuts. These things can kill, and you are proposing to sell to the general public.
Selling a kit is one thing, but supplying turnkey units to people with little or no relevant experience could be interpreted as 'asking for trouble'
What guarantees could you give that a designer wouldn't end up being sued after someone buys one for their kid who then kills themself after not reading/following the instructions/safety advice?

Well, calling people "hostile" and "slow" is not going to help them like you. To be fair, you insulted us first... Back to business, if you feel Finn's coils are beyond your budget, try asking Resonance Research or Eastern Voltage Research. Resonance makes beautiful, large coils and museum displays. EVR is run by Dan McCauley, one of the pioneers of large SSTC's. They make kits and such for small cute DRSSTC's and SSTC's. AFAIK Dan is the only one of us who produces products and kits geared towards hobbyists and other small users, as opposed to big display pieces. He might have what you are looking for.

I second all of that Finn's coils are worth saving for! Ooooo.... One Day!! My hobbies include Tesla coils, and coin collecting. I collect the coins to spend on the coils!
