Wish You Were Here was written about Syd Barrett, and he was also (partly) the inspiration for the character Pink in The Wall. Dark Side of the Moon is also apparently a reference to (his) lunacy.

Even after he left the band he provided the inspiration for the band's most successful material.

Primarily rock.
Poison has some really nice songs, and I love a bit of beetles or Dire Straits.
I absolutely hate rap; I can't stand it!
Anything that's autotuned, I take an instant dislike to...

Blues. REAL Blues. Delta Blues, acoustic, some amplified slide (if it's real). Buddy Guy, Robert Johnson, Wolf, classic blues.
I play a bit, so I like to play as much as listen.

I also like Canned Heat, Cream, Hendrix, 60's stuff

I love the blues too, you seem to have missed out Elmore James......My music collectoin spans 60 years or more. These days I generally settle for stuff my girlfriend likes as well.....modern R'n'B, Eminem, etc......but not always.......one of my (many) favourite guitarists is James Burton, who played with Rick (Ricky) Nelson in the fifties, and Elvis in the late sixties and seventies.

I've not heard any Canned Heat for years, I think I've a 'cassette' somewhere.

Yeah...Elmore James, Son House, Sonny Boy Williamson, Jimmy Whetherspoon....... you know it!

Canned Heat goes well far back as does Jefferson Airplane, real early Rolling Stones, Doors, Iron Butterfly (remember Inda-Godda-Da-Vida?). There are a lot of bands that went nowhere after a single or two both in the States & UK. My brother played w/ Canned Heat.
I remember all that from TV shows like American Bandstand, etc. You know - you must have had those dance shows in the UK; in black & white - all the girls looked older than school girls we actually knew....(?) smile

These days my tastes range from Simon & Garfunkel to Perseraiskaus.

Make of that what you will.

Hmm I must be the only one here who listens to rap/hip hop..haha
For clarification, i don't listen to that pop/mainstream shit that is mindless BS.

Here is just one good song, take a listen: Link2

Also I like classic rock, blues, play some blues piano myself. I love driving on a summer night with classic rock, but ill listen to some hiphop when doing homework to set the mood.

As long as it doesn't involve excessive screaming (its OK in moderation), the word tractor (country), it's not popular among pre-teens (justin queeber, taylor swift, ect.), and it has no connection whatsoever to disney channel(hannah montana, jonas brothers), I will listen to it.
So I listen to 99% of real music.

I like maroon 5, mgmt, the offspring, acdc, rise against, one republic, MCR, breaking bengamin, manian, bass hunter, you name it...
