Well I've never seen a comprehensive list on where to buy ferrite cores. So, let's make one!

Also, where would I find more ferrite cores like this one? Ones with a large winding window.

Also2, would it be a wise idea to wind a single pancake flyback on this core using 28awg magnet wire and electrical tape to seperate the layers? With the large winding window I could make quite a pancake. I'd like to use thinner wire, but aside from 40ga 28 is the thinnest I have...

You don't seem to have links in your post.
TSC International is where I get all of my ferrites; they have pretty big cores at a ridiculously low price :)
Now, where to get the giant ferrites I want for my solid-state pole pig using FD600R17's is a harder question...anyone know of a manufacturer who is willing to make HUGE one-of cores?

There's no links because I'm not sure where to get cores...

Instead of electrical tape you may want to use clear packing tape. All my coils insulated
with electrical tape failed within seconds.

The heavy duty Scotch tape is good for about 1.5 to 2 Kv a layer, from my experience.

Well according to 3M the scotch super 88 electrical tape is good to 10kV... Link2

Edit: 10kV my ass, This stuff failed in 3 seconds at 1.5kV. Well that sucks, this tape would have made for a really nice looking FBT.

I have a theory: maybe the coloring in the tape, which I presume to be carbon black, is reducing its dielectric strength... Hmm, I'm going to get some white super88 stuff tomorrow and see how that holds up to the volts.

I have purchased some cores from TSC international, there cheap. I put in a simple purchase order to see what kind of supplier they are. They do take pay-pal, and ship by UPS.

Ive seen college professors and Phd's doing experimental work, find that its not worth the cost, time, or difficulty to find a maker of one-of-a-kind huge ferrites. What ive seen them do is to order the largest standard "U" core type and stack them. Or maybe the "I" picece and arrange as needed. Then using the lengths like legos to arrange the window and legs to the conventional dimentions. Finnally, epoxy with very flat faces to minimize any airgaps.

Is the resonant driving frequency effected more by material or size? I was looking at TSF core materials and was wondering what material would be the best for driving at approximately 100kHz.

for insulation, you could take a look at kapton tape

it is really neat and nice, has a very good thermal resistance and should behave well at high voltages...

never tested it though

Kapton is supposed to be best, I assume it comes in different thicknesses.

Does anyone know what the yellow tape often used on ferrite coils/transformers is called?

EPCOS (Fujitsu-Seimens) will produce ferrite cores to order but I imagine it isn't cheap.
