Hi Uzzors, depending on what you are using it on I have used the hfbr-25xx and hfbr-15xx series and 1000u plastic fiber for IGBT drive. It is plenty fast for that and it is cheeper and durable. the only problem with it is distance. hfbr 14xx and hfbr 24xx series are the best but so far I have not had to go to the extra expense.

I am in favour of the receivers and transmitters from Industrial Fiberoptics.
Transmitter: Link2
Datasheet: Link2
Matching receiver: Link2
Datasheet: Link2

I have used these extensively as link from burst controller to T-BRISG, T-SISG and DRSSTC's without any problems.

They come in faster variants, with down to 3-5nS response time, not so shappy I'd say.

Cheers, Finn Hammer

Hi all,
Thanks for the great suggestions. I bought 60 pairs of HFBR-14E4/24E6 today, plus 6 meters of SC-SC cable on ebay. No need to worry about things becoming obsolete anymore.

Has anyone ordered and had success with the IF-D95T (FB123-ND) receiver from digikey in the last few weeks? I had one mechanically fail in a coil last weekend, which had been purchased a few weeks back (it works if you jam the output pin up into the package, but in does not work in a resting position). I got a new one today from digikey and it has the exact same problem, the pins seem like they're not properly bonded to the die or something.

Has anyone else experienced this recently? Does digikey have a bad batch?

I use the same receiver and have had no problems with them. Sounds to me like a bad batch.
