Google Chrome here. Firefox seems to have become quite bloated as of late, and even on a high end system can seem sluggish at times. Chrome runs great on everything from my dinky little netbook to my beastly desktop, and I haven't really come up against any pages it couldn't render properly.
Adblock and Flashblock are definitely a must, but do be kind and consider disabling Adblock/Flashblock on sites you find useful and use often -- they've got to pay the server bill somehow.

I switched to the release of Firfox 4 and it's a great improvement over 3.6, etc. I was getting the same issues as PM and now (perhaps via the hardware acceleration in 4) I am getting a substantial degree of performance improvement. I had read that Explorer 9 does not support XP.....now that figures!
I have a Linux machine at home and would not put a thing Microsoft on it. Indeed, it has been the more trouble-free of many.
