Wow, this thread is old and dusty just like my micro VTTC. I just found a 6146 tube at the farmers market for 2$. When I get time, I want to redesign the tube oscillator for the 6146 and build a new primery and secondary coils. Maybe I will have better streamers. The new tube only uses 50ma more heater current then the 6BQ6GTB so I can use the same SMT filament supply. Anyone else attemted to finish their coils or did they gave up when I had submitted mine?

I'm currently working on a nice cased up plasma tweeter, all tube minus the voltage doubler diodes. Winding my own transformer for ~250V to go into the doubler on a ~200W core. I'll be using a EL519 tube (once i find one) but everything is all wired, waiting for magnet wire for the secondary of the power transformer. Its actually Ulrich Haumann's design, which i have heard great things about. The other tubes include a EF86, and a ECL82 for the preamp and modulating tubes. Can't wait to get the wire and the EL519 or 6KG6A!

I finished my new secondary for the micro VTTC. It has arout 600 turns of 40awg wire on a 2cm former. With the topload, it resonates around 1.9Mhz. The primary is temporary. I believe this is all I can get out of the 6BQ6GTB.

I see that you're too cheap to buy actual plate caps for the tubes, too I know they're pretty cheap, but when you have to buy them and add 4 times their cost in shipping, I'd rather just buy a brass strip and form it. I think the best part of the coil is the SMPS! Can't wait to get one more tube to get my tweeter up and running!

The "worlds most smallest" VTTC is done! I have desided to keep the 6BQ6GTB because I do not want to redesign and etch the HV board again and the 6146 has a bigger footprint.
"I see that you're too cheap to buy actual plate caps for the tubes, too" I used an aluminum video wire clip found in a monitor. It fitted the tube's nipple so I used it.

Beautiful. There have been many great contributions, but I think your coil is a step above the rest. If Vaxian still lurks around here maybe you'll get the trophy he promised... Now can we finally close this thread?
