Because you do not seem to posses the devotion and patience to learn enough about electronics in this particular Tesla coil before giving up on it and moving on to do something much more complicated.
You need to take your time and get one coil to work at a time, in your style you will see more disappointment than success and properly give up on the high voltage as a whole...

Many people,told me the same thing.I know this may be the problem. I should optimize this coil before trying something more complicated.
So what should I do next to fix this coil?
My MOSFET gets hot fast.10 second of running make it too hot to touch. Originally I use IRFP460.Then I replace it with IRFP250.At that time I guess the lower Rds(on) may help,but it gets hotter.
At that time I use a secondary 17cm tall 11cm in diameter(not on the picture).with 500turns of 31awg wire.Topload is a ring slightly bigger than the diameter of the secondary.Primary is wind on secondary on the same PVC tube.
