Microwatt, it would lower the capacitance somewhat, but it would still be far from practical, maybe even impossible, to make a transformer with 3000 secondary turns work at 80kHz. I think the best way of winding HV secondaries for high frequencies is the Steve Ward single-layer method .
Grenadier, I think a multiplier is the best approach. Maybe you could take some inspiration from the original transformer that used to be on your multiplier board:

Actually I tried using my 1940s AC flyback and I've been getting really loud sparks out of the multiplier, loud enough that I need earmuffs. I've heard 1mA sparks from an iron cored xrt before and I think I'm getting about 1mA, though I'm not sure how its happening at 30khz...
(yes, I have a 15 meg resistor on the output, so the diodes are safe)
Also, what are the chances that i'd see another multiplier like that?
