Well, I'm actually 17 years old myself. I recently built my first ZVS driver a while ago, but before that I started with a basic 555 timer driver. It was pretty cool, learning how these things work and by basically learning how these things work, I've become smarter about electronics. I really love this stuff, and I thought I'd might show some people I made something that works.

Hmm, I think it's because the circuit is so dang easy to make, and it is so adaptable. It's so simple and adaptable that I consider it its own oscillator, just like the hartley, the colpitts etc. When I get an LC meter I plan on looking into the circuit and possibly finding some formulas for it.
It's a really special circuit because one can pump 2.5 assloads of power into it and not have the thing even get hot. Once you get it tuned right it's also a reliable circuit. I think that, along with the aforementioned reasons is what attracts people to the circuit. That and the fact that it's fun as hell to shock stuff with it.

A donkey in good condition weighing 150 kg, should carry a maximum of 50 kg. That's 330lbs, and a 12V 100AH AGM battery weighs about 82lbs, so 4 batteries in series gives 48V. The batteries can safely discharge at about 60A so 48 * 60 = 2.88Kilowatts, a power easily achievable by using some nice IGBTs in the ZVS, and a big ferrite core.
