Nice little Bi-Polar, I love how you put 200A IGBTs in a coil that small, that's totally something I would do. cheesey Can't wait to see it at the thon.

Thanks. What have found when audio modulating a BI-P DRSSTC is a clean sound generated when the arc is constant between electrodes @ . A constant arc takes high bit rates, which increase duty cycle. This does not allow the die to transfer enough heat with small IGBT’s. A large brick ensures thermo transfer is acceptable for this type of system.

Are you saying FM modulation? With high frequency? and duty cycle?

Beautifull crafstmanship ... but yet again - we don't expect anything else from you hee hee smile I was blown away by the big one - and it will be a really nice to have a small and portable coil to bring around.

Cheers

I just love bipolars!! Mine has become the show piece that people see when they come in my workshop, it's so neat and spectacular.
Great work Chris. An artist as always. :)

Looking great as always!

What frequency do you plan to push the bricks, and are there phase lead involved in your design?

Inspired by your work with plexi, I'm in the process of making myself an small bipolar DRSSTC with a clean look. The question is if my girlfriend will let it stay in the living room when it is done smile

BTW, flame polishing is the way to go, I have always been using polishing discs, but I will never go by that road again!

Cheers, Daniel

Cheers, daniel
