Hey guys, I going to buy and make the 2n3055 flyback driver, and also make the dual 2n3055 driver, but I'm wondering if this will work as a flyback driver.

Bwang, those are 60hz wave choppers, they run at 60Hz but chop part of the AC cycle off so that the inductive kickback occurs.
What Walshy showed does work, and the arcs are pretty hot, but low voltage in the cases i have seen. And Walshy, the rules clearly state thou shalt not double post

Thanks bwang and Arcstarter, for posting also sorry for I double posting.
Shall I buy the AC transformer or a 2N3055 or MJE13009?
The cheapest is the transformer at £2.95 with free postage! and it will be useful for other things.
So which one?
And I also did some googling, and found this.
It shows that the light transformer is a 20Khz -+ smps, which is perfect for a flyback, I think I'll give the trasistors a miss and buy this, because these transformers are DIRT CHEAP! even cheaper than a single 2n3055.
And I think that it will last much longer than a 2n3055 and '13009.

I apologize for butting in but this really depends on what you want to accomplish; especially down the line. The flyback can always be harvested free so buying one is rather a waste. The use of a 2N3055 is simply a disappointment in performance. Frankly the TO-3 package is always more expensive than a TO-220. If you really like the package design the 2N3773 is a better bet.* If you are making decisions on what to spend you money on; discover what can be harvested from wasted electronics.....actually most all materials can be had for free for most basic HV experiments. I learned from the designs and feedback of others. If what they said went over my head; I would hit the books to find what aspects of their discussions I didn't fully understand.
This Forum is SO FULL of information that with some patience and an understanding of the Search function; there is a wealth of information and opinions that may be weighed.
When using the Search function remember that by a comma delimited search you will find the various subject words in differing parts of the dialog. By "quoting the subject verbiage" you will find the search in that described fashion.
*Realistically, many, if not most transistors can also be thus obtained. This CAN BE an inexpensive hobby. I would be willing to wager that MANY hobbyists have made very fine projects without spending anything but discovery time to disassemble. But on a realistic level, the transformer will most likely be harvested in a working condition where the transistors may be a better object purchased new & un-abused as they are more delicate.
