Arcstarter....human body resistence can really vary quite abit, what really matters is that his body would have an internal temp rise, and external burn marks through/over his skin if this were real.

Here is a good example of what Electric Man would look like if he really passed a lot of current through his body: Link2

It is obviously a simple trick using electronics to turn the appliances on and off, I admire your faith in the fact that he uses an "opto-isolator" I used to lecture to clubs on the use of electronics in Magic and I've been given electronics based tricks to repair for Magicians. Several items were so dangerous I did a complete re-design/re-build instead of repairing them! A lot of the Indian Fakir "tricks" are quite interesting and a mix between doing it for real and trickery. I have a rare (although there is a site selling a rip off "digital copy") bound edition of Indian magic newsletters (Swami and Mantra) which contains such delights as "Glass eating, an introduction" followed by "Glass eating, your first trial" and yes you really do eat glass ! BUT THERE IS A SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE ELEMENT TO IT SO DON'T TRY IT !!!! However it also lists three different methods of drinking Nitric acid all of which involve trickery (And TBH all three methods are too risky to try IMO!) In fact I would advice against using this (or any) book to learn these types of tricks and only learn from someone who's actually done it before and even then be careful as they may have just been lucky in the past!

Martin.

Very interesting! Are any of these publications available on-line? I would especially like to read about your electronic magic tricks! wink

Of course you'd be severely burnt by the amount of power passing through your body, but you also have to remember 6mA through the heart and your dead. I'd say he'd be dead many times now if it was real cheesey

The amount of current needed to cause death varies wildly, even less the 6mA can cause death. Individuals have definatley had 500+ mA across the heart and survived without consequence, not even a trip the the ER.

Electricity is hard to predict, thats why I avoid it entirely, if I do get shocked its because I screwed up.

Time is also an important factor, IE the duration of the shock.

People has survived lightning strikes too, you know.

As I said only a copyright infringing rip off electronic copy which is there if you search for it. As for my stuff unfortunately I have verbal non-disclosure agreements with magicians I've built stuff for and I don;t break my word and the lecture stuff was more about general ideas that could be developed into tricks rather than fully fledged tricks themselves although I did build and perform a version of this Link2 In fact I've built a few different versions one of which has been used on TV smile.
