I've put 8A through those copy machine transformers and got pretty impressive performance but it really not made for current higher than 5A@12V. I've tried 24v at 3A and even pushed it a little at 35V dropping back the current. They could be used for a coil I believe. The "fat" Teflon input is coupled with #2 (the leads have numbers). Grd is a light green. My little home made HV probe said 5400v @ 12v input.
Edit: You put a few amps through them you get those nice fat yellow arcs: not those thin little blue guys

I am thinking about running a 2 or 3 transformer stack of those HV copy transformers or what ever they came from( not the flyback). Will that make a decent coil? i am going to wind a new secondary. I was thinking 1'-1/2" tall and 3 to 4 inches in diameter.

how does this look. I am going to make my new secondary a foot and a half tall and 3 inches in diameter with 28 awg wire. As far as the primary capacitance goes for the calculations i put my capacitor value of what i have right now 7.5 nf which is 0.0075uF i no thats wrong but thats as close as i can get. here are my calculations :)
