Though this is somewhat unrelated, i find it very curious that Ireland's Buckfast actually has somewhat 'less' alcohol content than England's. That seems counter-intuitive, don't you think? cheesey

are the irish the kicked around step child, with the english doing the kicking .... is this why?

My guess is that the alcohol content of the Irish variant was originally fixed to meet a particualar excise band, and has remained there as the Irish brand taste despite the Éireann Republic having joined the EU subsequently.
