... I am filled with envy! Let me know if you ever have one too many capacitors and ~200 dollars too few.

Roll your own. 50 nano, 100KV caps are easy, you don't even need to put them under oil. They cost next to nothing.

(Or get me to make you some $$)

The voltage is all wrong for laser pumping rolleyes
...the discharge time is too short...
...unless we are talking about a Dye or TEA laser....

I also vote for using them to make a Marx and then post movies of it working.

Hmm...there might not be enough joules per bang for a laser...flashlamps usually don't run at 80KV.

80kv through a flash lamp might turn it into a flashbang.

Jon Singer has done 40 KV.

PS. with pulse duration this short a lot of the light goes into UV, so borosilicate flashtubes don't work so well.

Most linear flash lamps for lasers are quart...however most of them are also doped to absorb UV (they fluorese under UV light) so they probably don't work well for a Dye laser.
I actually happen to have 2 linear flash lamp that don't fluorese under UV, but all my other flash lamps do.

If you do decide to mess with a few of those caps and see if you can get anything to lase... Link2 . 80Kv should trigger them I hope :D

Again, youd need specs on the caps tho, have to know what your pulse length gonna be like. The Marx would be easier imo :D. Then again, all 16 in a marx? keep some aside :D
