Hi,

I was just wondering which languages you can speak, read or write...

My mothertongue is Dutch (Flemish in fact, slightly different from Dutch; comparable to the difference between US and UK-English)

I'm quite fluent in English (read, write and speak)

I understand French very well, both written and spoken, but I have some difficulties to find the right words myself (so speaking isn't that fluent)

I know German to some extent; I understand most thing, both written and spoken, and I can say about everything but with simple words cheesey

I'm studying Chinese, but don't know very much about it (yet)

I also have slight notions of Italian, Spanish and Swedish.

So; which languages do you know?

I speak and write in Polish shades

I'm also trying to write something in English and i think i'm not so bad wink I have no problems with reading in English, especially sort of electrical texts or user's manuals (e. g. i know what is GDT or ringing but i don't know it's name in Polish tongue ) I don't have an opportunity to speak besides my english lessons.

I was also learning German for 3 years but i can't speak/write in this language at all tongue I can only read but only a bit.

I did Japanese for years at school. At one time I might have known something like a thousand words - which sounds like a lot but is nothing anywhere near fluency.

I also speak assembler, C, C++, BASIC, PASCAL, etc...

Languages I have known over the years (but do not remember):
French read/write speak/understand
German read/write speak/understand
Hindi understand
Italian speak/understand (mostly Insults)
Chinese speak/understand (mostly numbers and Insults)

Computer Languages of the top of my head:
Binary switches and micro code
Assembly in many flavours
HP48
C - - (old)
PASCAL
Fortran 77
C in many flavours
C++
Applescript
Basic
Java
Javascript / html
Vrml
Flash scripting
Awk scripting
Bash scripting
Perl
Python
Scheme
Icon / Unicon
PLSQL for Oracle
SQL in many flavours
Gerber
NCDrill
BNF / MBNF
Numerous other Orphan Monkey Languages Microsoft creates.

At one time I knew many languages but now I am rather confined to a colloquialistic English with a French influence.

English as a native language. Cantonese as a spoken language. Spanish in school for two years, which will be useful because I see more and more Spanish subtitles or plain Spanish signs every single freaking day.

Native English, and I can read, speak and write German. I took 3 years of it in HS and 4 in College, my wife is a native German. When I was studing for the WPE in German we would go weeks communicating only auf Deutsch, did wonders for comprehesion and speaking ability. Sadly I have not used it in some time, but I plan on specializing in German/American Commerce Laws. May be one day I can actually go there. cheesey
