That new transformer feeling

I guess since I'm a rock star now, I should throw this out of a hotel room window or something tongue

It's a 240V to 5.5kV 0.35A transformer that I was given by a friend with a big junk pile. One of the windings is burnt out, but the cool thing is, it's made with two sets of C-cores clamped together that can be taken apart and reused. So I have a 2kVA transformer kit, or two 1kVA units. I should try making an output transformer for a tube bass amp or something. One half would easily handle 300W at 30Hz.

Just look out for people below, and make sure you land it on the most expensive car.

That'd look pretty cool on an album cover.

Steve, I've got a transformer just like that, except it still works! wink

I must get a photo... does that mean I can be a singer/guitar soloist now? heheh

Big cores are a rare find around here, especially for free. Can you sense the jealousy? Good.

Yea, they sure are. I've been collecting junk since I was your age and this is the first one I've found. It's not ferrite btw, just old fashioned laminated iron smile
