X-ray Tubes?

I found a bunch of tubes going cheap, about 7 dollars a piece. Are any of them worth buying, considering I'm only going to use them for an x-ray tube. I know Jochen Kronjager did it with some triodes, but I don't know anything about tubes. Would any of the tubes on auction be suitable?

What auction?

Typically beam triodes work the best, or so I've heard.

I always though that diodes would work best, considering that an x-ray tube is a diode...

In any case, just make sure to get one that ave a really high voltage rating cheesey Shouldn't all of the active ones have a warning?

I know what tubes you are talking about, and no, they are not suitable. These are the kind of tubes that were used in radios. You need tubes made for rectifying high voltages. Take a look around here: Link2 .

*slaps forehead* I forgot the link.....

Anyway thanks for the link Anders, looks like they have a lot of goodies. Hows the shipping and handling from Germany though? Looks like I'm in luck too, I was about to give up when "Röntgenexperimente" caught my eye. wink
The "2 X 2 A" looks like a good candidate.

Under catalogue -> Tubes -> Rectifiers

Shipping and handling was not too bad the last time I ordered there. Just watch for the total cost, if it gets over 200NOK then you might have to pay toll on the stuff.
