Configuring twinview in ubuntu

..., Sat Apr 22 2006, 06:35AM

I am not sure if any of you guys have any experience with this, but it is worth a try...

Last weekend I converted my windows desktop to ubuntu... All seemed to go ok, but there is a catch...

I am using two monitors; one on either end of my room (just becuase I am like that). Folowing some tutorials on the net I managed to get the both displays working so I have a 2048x1280 desktop, but the desktop with all of the stuff on it is on the wrong screen. I suppose most people would just reverse the connectors on the graphics card, but due to cabling diferences (one monitor is connected via a vga->r/g/b/vsync/hsync 6' cable and the otehr by a dvi->vga 10' cable), so I need to configure the driver to tell ubuntu to put the desktop on the other screen...

I tried putting the 'option "twinvieworientation" "leftof"' command, but it just made it so that when you drag windows arround the left side of the main screen is connected to the secondary (instead of the otherway round as it originally was)

I am guessing that it has something to do with the config file...

any help will be gratly apreciated cheesey
