vector inverter 1200w

Chris Cristini, Sat Oct 11 2008, 11:57PM

this is a work in progress type of thing it works but the psu i am using is only 200w so it will shut of if i use more than one fly back.

it makes completely silent arcs that are pretty long for just 12v. shades does any one know what kind of circuit this is or what it does?

four fly backs that looks safe huh smile

Thats one way to do it amazed

I need to find a car battery or a bigger power supply the only bats i have now are 18v drill batterys so i took a wire wound resistor and made a small gap for each transformer and i get four high current arcs but i blew a cap in the inverter probably from over voltage and it produces large amounts of corona wind. I like to do things differently than the 555 driver or the single transistor driver etc.

why dont you take a atx power supply and mod it so instead of the ferrite transformer replace it with a flyback transformer.

Problem with that is most of the atx psu's use a feedback coil, but it is a good idea. I may try a flyback driver with uzzors' design. That is for the future though.

I just figured that if 2 fly backs in series worked well i could try four and make a fly back bank if it works it would make a lot right especially if it can handle 300w a piece 300*4=1200 i hope but i might have it all wrong it is worth a try. And i like the psu driver idea i am gonna try to figure it out hopefully. smile I tried it but there is to much ark over and the potting burns the arc is a lot longer though. And the cap that i blew was 3300uf@16v is there any way i can change the value maybe the same capacitance but higher voltage to avoid that sort of thing in the future oh i found potentiometers on in the circuit one says freq and the other one says voltage i don't want to tamper with them in case it burns out i like this circuit.

Use the batteries (18V) to connect to a ZVS driver. It will give you amazing output for very little cost.

I know but i wanted to try different things zvs drivers are i think the best way to run a fly back. Sorry for being off topic but i have searched for a way to determine voltage by length of arc can u help me?

I did a stress test on the inverter with a fly back hooked up and and had an ark going for 45 mins and nothing got hot the only reason i stopped is because my arm got tired and i was running out of wire because it melted. is it good for long term use? amazed
