AM audio modulation of tesla coils

Hi

I have beeen looking into the audio modulation of solid state tesla coils.
I've found several sites with FM modulated tesla coils but haven't found one yet which covers am modulation of a SSTC in much detail.

Have any of you come across a site or built an AM modulated tesla coil.

I am interested in this because I was woundering if it would be possible to use a tesla coil as a high fidelity speaker.

This all depends on the quality of your driver!

Nope, but it should be possible with some circuit construction knowledge.

Almost anything is possible if you have the knowledge.

Yes, I've built a series of AM coils; using lossy class-A and also using smoothed PWM to provide class-D.

Have a look at classeradio.com and some of the modulator designs there -- those would all be suitable for SSTC use.
