how to wire 6 mots

jameselectric, Tue Jun 26 2007, 07:16PM

looking for advice on how to wire 6 mots for 120 or 240. schematic would be nice. Right now I have 4 wired for 240 and would like to extend the stack.

Thanks,

James

This has been discussed here on 4hv several times. In fact we discussed it in quite detail in a previous thread of yours...
Although IMHO, if you can't figure out how to add another pair of mots onto the stack, it might be best not to be playing with mots at all...

Steady now. I hope you meant that with sarcasm but it doesn't read that way.
The points made in the reply to your original post are valid IMO

yes that was jokingly, there are more serious things in the world to fight about instead of silly tesla coils. I researched my older threads and did not come across a electrical schematic. I am more of a visual learner. sorry for the confusion.

MOTs are really dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!! you wont get a shock you will just die or get a limb blown off so be cairful when I run 2 MOTs I easily blow a 20A baker so there is defiantly enough power especially in 6. Any way its your life to do it first you will want to put them in oil and I would wire 2 of them center tapped and do this with all of them so you have 3 pairs and then wire them in sires. this should get you about 12KV and alot of current. go over this with some one alse because I may be wrong.

Paul Benham's coil is a good example of what can be achieved using a 4 MOT supply

Good god Rocketry76, please use a spell checker - because your sounding like your on serious drugs, dude!
I must admit I enjoyed the post immensely. amazed

Anyways, back to the point - I enjoyed the photos of that quad pack MOT supply... it looks like it has been tamed considerably. A 6 pack MOT supply could easily pull 50-60A untamed... I saw bus bar begin to melt when I ran my 6 pack supply oh so many years ago. Pretty impressive considering that these trannies came from surplus uWave units!!

I think he *is* using a spell checker. The words are spelt fine, they're just not necessarily the right words, or in the right order. PS: I probably should have used the ill smiley instead earlier tongue
