Is this a good price for a NST?

Jrz126, Mon Feb 27 2006, 10:58PM

I can get my hands on a couple of NSTs, a 15kV 30mA for $15 + about $34 shipping. and a 15kV 60mA for $25 + $54 for shipping. Both have 120V primaries.
I'm not really sure what they go for, but I think its a good deal.
He says they work and I'm about 99.9% sure I can trust him.

He's going to send me some pictures soon as well.

So assuming they are in good physical condition, would this be a good deal?

EDIT: Thread name changed...

Those are great deals from my NST buying backround. A 15kv NST usually goes for over $60 regardless of total power, and excluding shipping. So I'd say go for it.

He sent me A pic: The grey one is the 30mA.

I think I might go ahead and do it then. I'll probably wait until tomorrow morning to tell him, just so I can get some more feedback on this deal.

Kinda sucks that I'm going to be forking over $90 just for shipping.

He also said that he has an X-ray Transformer for sale, 220 in at 100 amps and 125,000 out. Only weighs about 200 pounds or so.

one thing to look into for shipping is a usps 'flat rate box'
It is an 11'by8.5"by5.5" box that you can ship for $8.1 up to 70lbs...

In any case; that is a pretty good deal :)

I wonder if you can get him to freight the whole mess over together...

Hmm...He's up in Canada, so I dont know if the 'flat rate' box would work. I can just see my little old mail woman trying to haul 70 lbs of NST out of her van.

I'm going to ask him if there is a cheeper solution to the shipping issue.

Even with the shipping - those ARE good prices - I bought a stack of new ones - they cost me nearly $200.00 each. (partially because I had to make a deal to get them without CFGI's which make them crap for our kind of use). Most of the time, shops around here get at least $60 each for the old ones - just because they can. I got tired of it an bought new ones (just because I could).
