Peter's coil made IEEE Spectrum

All,

I was idly paging through the May issue of IEEE Spectrum magazine that came in today's mail when I encountered a very familiar picture - as a two-page centerfold no less(!):

Congratulations again, Peter!

First the internet craze with Sauron's eye, then discovery channel and now this. Peter has become the CEO of HV! cheesey

Indeed and grats on possibly becoming the 2nd most illustrated HV tinker out there! (Right after Nikola Telsa himself!)

I had to laugh at this one. One of the things that caught fire was "..the tape supporting the rotating rod". Which was true, but I'm not sure that it was really worthy of a mention in IEEE spectrum!
And I resent the implication that my son, Chris, is a thief - it was me!

The recent pics have certainly been popular. I think because people can understand the car thief protection one without having to understand electricity at all.

Thank you for the compliments but there are many people out there with a big HV presence. Sam Barros' site has had 3 times as many hits and he went down the Discovery Channel road some years ago when my site had barely started. Mikes Electric stuff has had some big hits too. Interesting looking at other people hit counts on Alexa which says that in the last 3 months from today that .0016% of the internet has visited my site which ranks me at 86,649 of all internet sites.

So what next? I am planning a big TC doing an Eye of Sauron thing in a geodesic dome building in August giving the access to good top down spark photos. Also want to shoot some "looking up" shots like my son did when it wasn't running. Makes it look like a huge tower with the perspective.
Also planning (for years) an arty but very dramatic pic. I am getting a few ideas to implement this rather involved setup. Will probably get a pro photographer in to do film shots to get proper high resolution.
The weather is not really kind at the moment so I am doing other stuff at present like fixing broken stuff, catching up on sleep etc.

I just saw this in the IEEE spectrum today. Very nice work!
