Interesting circuit...

Seems to me, that by beefing it up, it can be used in a multistage coilgun which doesn't need substantially complex electronics (I believe most use microcontrollers) which fires a supermagnet which could be encapsulated in epoxy or something.
The way I see it, this may be slower, but you can have a lot more stages packed closely together.
My next project is going to be a tesla coil, but I just thought I'd bring this idea up...

Its neat because of its simplicity, but I would expect that previous coils firing could cause that to fire pre-maturely.
Though now I want to build one of the sun swingers with the cells, and coil on the pendulum.
