What to do with a 2uF 4KV cap

Hi, I got a capcitor and I was wondering if I could make a ring launcher or something out of this.

You could, but it will be less than exciting at that energy level. With a few MO caps (4uF or so) overcharged to 6kVDC i could get a little copper ring (1" OD) to jump maybe 15-20'. The coil was an inductor from a speaker cross-over, roughly 40 turns of 18awg magnet wire on a 1" form in 4 layers of winding (solenoid fashion).

Would this cap be ok for pulse aplications but not TC use?

Ive used caps very similar in physical construction to that cap for pulse discharge use. Its pretty low energy (16j), so im not too worried about a catastrophic failure, but dont get upset if/when you lose the cap.

Well this cap I got for $5 and it is the bigest one I own so I don't want to distroy it.
