Lookin' for some high current Low voltage diodes

EDY19, Thu Dec 07 2006, 10:36PM

Im trying to find a couple high current diodes with no need for any high voltage requirements. Im planning on trying some electrolysis to get some small quantities of Na metal. Just as a proof of concept type project. Voltage ratings don't NEED to be over 30V, but they can be. Current ratings- im looking for over 50A just to be safe, or multiple diodes, using a rewound MOT for about 10V or so. I really have no idea how much current I will be pushing yet. It seems as if i saw someone else here doing a similar large scale project, which is where i got the idea from.

50a isn't all that much current, and if you are not worried about voltage drop across the diodes just about any stud or to-247 diode should do the job no problem...

these should do the trick abit being way overkill for voltage...

Thats just the thing, im not sure how much current to expect, and diodes really aren't all that expensive, so i can overrate it and decrease the Vdrop with a higher current diode.

You have some great schottky diodes in PC SMPS's.
They are usually rated 40A or more and there are two in each package; since thermal coupling is good they are also paralellable.

You are building a down's cell?

I have a hand full of skr 46/12 if your interested.
