Patreon hassles of Naomi Wu

Conundrum, Tue Apr 03 2018, 06:24AM

Hi, can folks please email or IM Patreon asking them nicely to reverse their decision to pull Naomi Wu's account?

See Link2

Also Vice are just being plain nasty by publishing what they did. Losing your income for a single article is not fair at all.

This Patreon thing is becoming a way to steal someone's money. "Oh look she said a bad thing, let's delete all and get the money for us." At least if they had given the funds to her first.

Essentially published the full uncensored article containing very personal details she didn't want shared like sexual orientation, relationship status etc.

How did Vice's publishing an article lead to Patreon killing her account? There are some extra steps there somewhere.

This is indeed troubling, i support a Patreon project. looking at drip as a possible alternative.

Vice has some serious slavery like contracts that makes them own you/your name/brand so hard that you are most likely to go bankrupt if you step outside their path for the duration of the contract. Check youtube for videos on that subject, many people have made some, louis rossman has a good rant about it, which is perfectly fair when you hear what is in those contracts.

1. Vice published an article revealing personal details that Naomi thought they'd promised not to.
2. Naomi's response was to dox her interviewers, posting their personal addresses and phone numbers. That broke some Patreon terms of service rule.

It's not just about income from, I guess, Patreon or Vice. I think Naomi could go to jail in China for lifestyle choices alleged in the article.
