Sodium Polyacrylate

Hello all,
Just got some sodium polyarclyate...NEAT STUFF!
It will absorb about 100 times its weight in water. Starts as a powder, turns into a large puff of "stuff". Looks like dry snow. Really fun to play with! Once it dries out(baking) it will return to its original volume, and can be reused. I will make a video of it soon. Anyone interested in it can get some at United Nuclear(online). Has anyone else played with this before?Any neat things to do to it?
Matt

I had some a long time ago in a magic trick box. I remember adding salt to it made the water come back out and turn the mush back into a liquid.

According to wikipedia it is used in diapers, but I don't know how pure it is or if it's easy to isolate. If it is, this might be a viable option for those who can't/don't want to order from UN.

That stuff works best if you use distilled water. I was amazed at how little powder it took to gel up a whole glass of distilled water.

If you don't have access to diapers, women's really heavy duty pads also have this stuff in them.
The stuff in diapers/pads may not be pure enough to dry out and be reusable... I'll try and borrow a diaper from my neighbour to determine the reusability in the next day or so. I just hope nobody puts it in the sink!
