Arduino as a Coilgun controller?

Legit_bacon, Mon Feb 27 2012, 08:04AM

Has anyone used a micro controller to control the different systems of a coilgun eg; optical triggering, firing, charging signal, voltage feedback/cutoff?
Also all the control side of things like switches lights etc...

Just wondering if anyone has tried doing this with something like an arduino or other open source micro controller?

The guy at anothercoilgunsite.com made some impressive coilguns using pic's i believe.

Hi Mattster. I used a Picaxe 20M chip running at 32Mhz for a single stage halfbridge coil gun.
Injector solenoid, charge circuit, voltage monitoring of battery & caps, optical triggering & timing all done by one chip. Worked well.
