155mm projectile coilgun

Dear Sir, how long and how much power will a coilgun need to lob say a 155mm artillery shell to say a range of a standard ICBM going from Russia to USA? I was wondering
if such a weapon like this can be put on a self propelled vehicle like the German Link2 and be automatic loading like the
cancelled US crusader arty: Link2 I understand the barrel will have to be very long and the power needed to be large. Possible
coupling it with a ram accelerator or rocket assisted projectile to shorten the barrel and power. I know the potential of this type of weapon able a small country to defeat a larger oponnent.

I made a quick calculation that says that a cap bank powerful enough for that would cost over a billion dollars.

It just wouldn't be practicable... It would be so much easier to just use regular gunpowder acceleration to make such a device, or maybe some sort of laser.

A coilgun that big wouldn't make a useful weapon. Saddam Hussein was constructing a gunpowder cannon of similar scale capable of launching projectiles into space- but as history has proven again and again, super-weapons just aren't effective.

BUT, a coilgun of that size would be exciting! Why? Because it could launch payloads into orbit without spitting 97% of its mass out the back- a so-called space gun.

first stage light gas gun(or railgun) than into the ram accelerator portion. the two stages will be connected to gas propellant tanks for fast refill after each shot(the projectile would also be rocket and scramjet assisted once leaving the barrel). If designed well enough 10 per minute each howitzer and a battery of six of these units could provide the firepower of an entire ICBM wing in a constent stream. I know being Canadian we earned independence using this method on vimy ridge in ww1. Could also apply this reloading procedure to ICBMs(one shot weapon) and Katyusha type rockets.
