well guys have a nose at this, this coil is with NO tuning or calculations, its simply using a MMC bank, 5 piece copper tube SG with forced air cooling , 7 turns primary, not sure on the secondry turns, pan lid top load and a 4.8Kv 40ma NST getting 6.5" streamers, remember,,, NO TUNING!

video here *changed to flash movie for full browser compatibility* (3.09Mb) http://www.dj-ped.com//gsm/MOV00007.swf

what you think?

Looks pretty good. Interesting spark gap too.

Fill the top thing with water and make a remote turn on for it and set it in the yard and wairt for birds to land in it thinking it was a bird bath. Probably wouldn't shock them either.

Next time don't hold a live HV line. This isn't like playing with 9V batteries. You can get really hurt really fast by these things.

Seeing aligator leads on the floor is ALARMING to me because there is a tremendous lack of safety.

I'm not trying to hurt any feelings or be a snob, but it just isn't right to risk your own personal safety like this.

I cant tell if it's off tuning, or that thing begging for a larger topload, but output could really increse.

Hehe, but nice job, reminds me of my first coil cheesey

I would say its the topload. The edge of the bowl, I find, uses up most of the energy that could go into an arc because of all the tiny streamers. I taped the edge of a bowl and the sparks to a grounded stick got about an inch or so longer.
