Boost Converter USB charger

I recently made a boost converter based off of this chip.

This chip is so easy to use it's criminal. I spent around an hour though, just soldering it all together on a nice small board. And it works!

AA battery is there for size.

I apologize for the blurry picture. It can accept 2 AA batteries, as well as a solar cell as long as it's above 2 volts. The potentiometer adjusts the output voltage, but I have a 5 volt regulator on the output to make sure it's always USB compatible. The filter cap is a 50 volt 470 uF cap, and the toroid is one I got out of a PC power supply. My output diode is an ST schottky one. I kind of had to finagle with it to get everything to fit properly, but I did!

That is an awesome little SMPS chip you found there. I may have to get some of those and try them out.
