runs on acetlyne.

Nice. How much thrust? You should try making one for a RC plane or car, that would be pretty elite.

Not enough thrust for anything, and it runs on a huge tank of acetylene at 10PSI.

Ive built 2 valveless pulsjets (loockwood and chinese) some time ago without calculating anything, so they dont work well at all

!amazed VERY cool!

It's neat to be able to visualize where all the heat is going (and I guess, where combustion is taking place).

Have you tried it on any other fuels?

I have not tried any other fuels yet, I will try MAPP gas and propane today. The problem with propane / mapp gass is that they don't have a quick enough flame front so they wont run a small pulse jet.

just remember as with any compressed fuel, use a backflash valve to keep yourself safe. You don't want the flame following down the fuel line and detonating the cylinder.

I have check valves and backflash arrestors on my assembly.

How can the cylinder exlpode when it contains no oxygen? confused

crap angry

Using acetylene might do the trick on my pulsejets. Whereas I actually made them just for learning hard-soldering (I've used 900° solder so it wont melt away immediately...)

Acetylene is not a stable gas and may explode for no reason unless it is stored and handled correctly. Explosions are rare but when they happen they will demolish a house completely or a car for that matter. Even fairly small amounts can cause serious destruction.

Wow, off topic comments contributed to by moderators.

I believe the correct course of action would be to have split that off into another thread concerning explosive gasses.

dorks.

Acetylene is a very forgiving pulse jet fuel, it will make even the worst designs run, or almost run.

Since it was not clear if you had any idea what you were doing it was considered to be 100% on topic so you would not blow up yourself and everything around you.

Actually it was not. Considering how I had mentioned that I do have the proper safety equipment in my set up, there was no need for you to carry on a completely off topic discussion concerning the explosiveness of acetylene.

I have had some problems with the engine body (standard brake line) softening with the head, and sagging. Perhaps some stainless brake line would hold up better.

Considering some of the recent photos you posted of yourself doing incredibly dangerous and stupid things with fire, its downright obvious you DO NOT know the proper safety precautions when it comes to this stuff. (See image below)

Wow that's a pretty neat little engine. Did you use the Acetlyne with air or pure oxygen?

Ah, another pocket locky clone. You, sir, are from the pulse-jets.com forum, aren't you?
