6.3V 4A-5A filament transformer

EDY19, Thu Jun 08 2006, 01:26AM

I'm looking for a 4 or 5 amp filament transformer rated for 6.3VAC. Anyone have a spare or know where to find one? I don't want to rewind a MOT because the transformer only has to be rated for 25.2W, not 1000W smile Thanks! Also the primary should 115VAC. If worse comes to worse, I may just find a 30VA transformer and wind a new secondary for 6.3V.

Nevermind, I found a soldering iron transformer thats rated for 125W that should work great.

Edit: cant fit enough turns with thick wire... still looking for a core with more V per turn or an actual filament transformer

Listed are 12V CT 4A transformers. Don't know how important the missing .3V is:

Edit:
There's another one here, 6.3V @ 8A, at what seems to be a really cheap price.

I'd like to find one that has exactly the ratings I need- Picky, I know tongue but I don't want my VTTC to weigh a ton with a MOT and another oversized transformer. Thanks for the sites though, If I needed another transformer, I know where to go!

That may not do well connected to a MOT smile and its a bit too big.

What I meant was,
increase the 5V rail on the smps to 6.3V
but yea, its probebly a bit overkill.

Im just going to use my homewound so I can add another tube filament to the circuit if I want- add one more turn and the voltage stays at 6.3 with 2 tubes- the secondary is wound with 12 or 14 wire i think, so 8A total should be fine.
